Celebrating or Two-Year Blogiversary

Two years from today I did our first blog post. At the time I was completely unsure if anyone would read it. For a long time, it seemed no one did. No, not even our family. In fact, to this day, although we have had over 35,000 visitors in all 50 states and over 20 countries worldwide, I can assure you that the majority of our close friends and family have no idea what I spend so much time writing about.

This blog has changed the projectory of our life. It’s given a focus towards our goal of traveling the world full-time, working as we go. It’s been a creative outlet, something we can work on together. But mainly, this blog has been an amazing, gratifying, somewhat mind-boggling window to an entirely new world of friends.

Through our blog, and by following others, we have found cyber friends around the world. This life has given us the ability to create true friendships with people we have, perhaps, not yet met, and yet who have become an important part of our lives. We talk about their latest post, referring to them by their first names, feeling like they’re friends from down the street. In our favorite cases, we have had the opportunity to truly get to know some of these new friends. In others, we will be sharing a drink and a story with them next month at Overland Expo. Some we know won’t be crossing our doorstep anytime soon, and yet, we feel a definite connection.

So, we say thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for commenting on posts that you appreciated. Thank you for sharing with us, that special connection that exists between we “crazy ones”. Those of us who are out there hoping to live a life a bit less ordinary. Our greatest hope is that someday we get to meet each and every one of you in person.

And so, we begin another year. Another year of trying to produce the best product we can. Of gaining both readership and new friends in cyber-world. Perhaps, going forward, we will even be able to convince our family to check it out occasionally!

  1. Happy anniversary! Being only six months in oursleves it’s great to read how far you’ve come in just two years…it’s inspiration to us to keep going even though there are days when you feel like nobody is listening. 🙂

    • oh believe me Sarah… sometimes I still feel that way. Keep at it and they will come (is that like in Field of Dreams where if you build it they will come?) I think the most important thing is to do it because you enjoy it, and getting traffic, advertising, etc. is just the cherry on top.

  2. What a great milestone (btw I think that friends and family are just a lot more sheepish about actually commenting on blogs. At least that’s the case with mine!)

    • Thanks Emily. Perhaps you’re right on the reason for not commenting but I do know several who admit to never reading! lol.. guess they see us enough to get all the stories firsthand.

  3. Hello fellow crazy ones! Sorry this is late, my blog reading has taken a terrible dip since I moved into a tent. But congrats on two years and even more congrats on living life on your own terms. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

    • Hi my friends! Hope living in the tent has been treating you well and you’re now pros at your presentations:) We greatly appreciate, as always, all the support over these past two years, and look forward to seeing you in September.
