Mexico on My Mind

Pinned to the wall of my cubicle I have a picture of a map of the world and the caption “Forgive me for not seeming all here, but my mind is ELSEWHERE”. While this may be true with great regularity, recently my mind has been in Mexico.

Ahhh, Mexico. The land of sunshine and margaritas. Of street tacos and street dogs. Of a rich, vibrant culture and beautiful beaches. We love this place, and with another trip looming in the near future, my mind finds its way returning to it’s shores, even while my body is still here at home. Needing a dose of MEXICO.. I present a pictorial of some of my favorite moments from past trips.

  1. Loved this little tribute as we are heading to Mexico in the next few days!!! It is our first time visiting but I am SO EXCITED. I can’t wait for the tacos and the sunsets and the beautiful people and the beaches and… well, really, all the things!

Clearly Mexico is where all the cool kids are heading this year… can’t wait to see you there! 😀

    • Hey Steph and Tony! SOOOOO excited for your first trip to Mexico. I guarantee you are going to LOVE IT. This will be our 23rd or so trip and we can never get enough. Hope you’re still there when we head down on our road trip the end of the year! If not, we’ll be in Alamos on 3/16 and El Fuerte on 3/17 if you’re there that early.

        • oh crap! Did you go through Alamos? We LOVED it, as well as El Fuerte.. hope you got a chance to enjoy it before heading to San Blas.

  2. Honestly, I would say that Mexico is one of my favourite countries I’ve been to. It’s just got EVERYTHING and it seems so many Canadians and Americans don’t fully appreciate all that she has! Have a wonderful time – I can’t wait to live vicariously through you and your visit!

    • Hey Emily! We have enjoyed so many places around the world, but keep getting drawn back to Mexico!

  3. Are road trips to Mexico safe? I wanted to drive down with my daughter, crossing somewhere in Texas, but my uncle is afraid we’ll be murdered and thrown into a ditch somewhere. My plans are to leave the 1st at the latest, second week of April. Any advice is appropriated. Thanks so much.

    • Oh Jessica… Mexico overall is FAR safer than most cities in the US! Sadly, the only news that makes news is of beheadings and drug cartel warfare. We have been to Mexico over 20 times and never had a single incident. And, in fact, on the trip we just returned from we crossed the border at Nogales and Agua Prieta and drove all the way across Sonora, Sinaloa and Chihuahua states visiting peaceful villages and meeting wonderful locals. Crime does exist, just like EVERYWHERE, I’m sure even your home town, but there is no reason to avoid travel there. Enjoy Mexico, it’s a wonderful country!

  4. Oh man, ME TOO. We have about two weeks left in the US and while we love up here in the mountains, we are already on the beach! Enjoy your trip xxx

    • Thanks Sarah…. too bad you won’t be passing back through Portland en-route but hope to see you later on in Playa 🙂 Happy travels! XOXO
