Now, in mid-winter, I am feeling housebound and contained, wanting to be out hiking in the wilderness, sitting around a campfire, and sleeping that deep sleep that comes after a day in nature. Here, an inspiring memory of hiking Mt. Cook, New Zealand, surely one of the most beautiful places in the world. I can’t wait for that next “first steps” on the trail feeling.
At least you will be past the shortest day and on the way to spring soon 🙂
I know the feeling of being cooped up at home. It’s the middle of summer here, but we have so much work to do on the house that we haven’t been out walking for what seems like forever.
This photo gives me itchy feet just looking at it!
Soon you’ll have a lot of time for getting out there! I am definitely ready for longer days and warmer weather though.
Aww! I’ve definitely decided I want to do the Tongariro Crossing in the next couple years. FWIW, the weather is pretty dire right now – am worried about stepping outside as the winds are so strong.
Thanks! It’s a gorgeous area, that is for sure. I think weather is often a factor so keep safe!
