Pasajcap really needs little introduction from me. Every overlander around is familiar with the stunning views and friendly service given by Pierre and his wonderful staff. Despite the title, we didn’t actually camp at Pasajcap. Pierres three beautiful shepherds are lovely dogs, but not always as fond of having doggie visitors. Thus, we were “forced” to rent one of his ten gorgeous accommodation options; in our case, cottage # 3 from the gate.
To say the views are magnificent is an understatement. Entire days were spent lounging around and simply taking in the ever changing clouds moving over the volcanoes in the distance. Throw in the beef tenderloin, pate, prawns, and wine available to purchase on site… how could we resist?
Our cottage was two rooms plus the narrow bathroom, all offering up the same amazing view. It’s not everywhere that you find even the toilet comes with a view of the lake. A fenced yard completed the package allowing Aspen to lounge at will.
Walls are made of floor to ceiling glass, although with the near perfect weather of Lake Atitlan we never closed them once during our month in residence.
Overlander friends, new and old, made for a more active social life than we had seen in years, and a travelers Thanksgiving potluck took place at Pierre’s residence overlooking his infinity pool and the majesty that is this place.
While we still made daily walks to town for exercise for Aspen and to get in some lake time fetching coconuts, most of our month was simply spent BEING.
We will truly never forget our time here where some friendships were renewed, and others ignited, all set with a backdrop of one of the most scenic places on earth.

If you are in the area, make a point to stop by. Trust us, you will not be disappointed!
The scenery is gorgeous. Aspen looks like a dog you just want to give a big hug – that sweet face.
It is an amazing place Donna! She is super sweet, and never fear, she gets a lot of hugs.
