Of all of the numerous things we miss about Lake Atitlan, one that we miss most is days spent simply watching the cloud formations change over the lake.
Sitting at over 5000ft elevation, the nearly ideal climate of the lake, along with the active volcanoes rimming it combine to create a perfect storm of cloud watching.
Days turned into weeks which turned into months.
Our inability to leave was punctuated by the evolving views.
In the end, of course, we did leave. A rather remarkable feat considering how many of our traveling friends remain on her fair shores. However the memories of long days spent simply being will live with us forever.
