We knew from past experience that touring the ruins at the Ayutthaya Historical Park was a hot experience, and we’d need to find a heavenly stop to decompress at the end of the day. Luckily, during some random scrolling online, I came across the Baan Thai House, which looked appealing and became our choice of lodging for the night.

Baan Thai easily proved to be one of the best guest houses we have ever stayed in. Conveniently located a short distance from both the train station and the Historical Park, the gorgeous property covers several acres and includes a pond and impressive foliage.

We opted for the Garden Villas, nestled near the lobby. The rooms were stunning, with ample places to set our backpacks, enormous bathrooms, a comfortable king-size bed, and an appealing patio outside to enjoy an evening drink or our morning coffee.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the grounds stunning, and the pool the perfect antidote to recover from near heat exhaustion while touring the ruins.

After our swim and a few drinks by the pool, we stopped by the lobby to ask if, by chance, they offered dinner, and our night was made even more perfect with their resounding yes. Dinner was delicious, we didn’t have to leave the property, and the evening ended with more drinks and some cards on our villa patio. A near-perfect day.

In addition to the garden villas we chose, the Baan Thai also offers deluxe villas overlooking their small lake, a Thai villa constructed in traditional fashion, as well as several double rooms.

The property is set along a small canal and, truly, is an exceptional place to stay. We splurged a bit on our night in Ayutthaya at $58USD per villa, knowing that it would be a long, hot day involving travel and touring, but it was well worth it.

The next morning we indulged in their delicious, and included, breakfast before heading to the train to continue to work our way north. If you’re heading to Ayutthaya, do yourself a favor and check out Baan Thai House, a true gem.
