Two years ago today, while still reeling from the loss of Maddy, and completely unsure we were ready for another dog, I nonetheless sent Jim to the Humane Society to look at a black dog named Jones. I then received a text picture of a dog named Porter and the message “Meet Porter, when I hugged him, he just leaned in for the hug”. That evening, Porter became a Delameter.
Super smart, Porter has a mind all his own, and generally his own agenda. Because of this he doesn’t get off leash time except at the dog park but the thing is, he doesn’t really seem to mind. He is a happy guy as long as the family is all together.
It took him a couple of months to make us understand he REALLY does not like to be alone, but once Aspen joined our pack, his world has been harmonious.
Silly and sweet, he entertains everyone he meets with his happy dance. We love you Porter and are so glad you and daddy found eachother that day.
Yay! Happy Birthday Porter! π
It was a great party at the lake π
Porter looks like an absolute sweetheart and definitely makes me think of our sweet rescue dog, Emmy Lou. It breaks my heart that there are so many unwanted dogs in the world, especially when rescues generally wind up being the best dogsβall they want to do is love! A very happy birthday to Porter!
He is! Just a very sweet soul, albeit a little concerned often π I, too, want to adopt ALL of them and could become a dog hoarder in the blink of an eye. As adorable as puppies are, I tend to get very irritated when acquaintances go out and buy yet another breeder puppy instead of rescuing a lovely dog in need of a forever home. I’m glad you’re able to hug your sweet pups these days.
Porter is so cute and sweet! We miss having our own pets, but one day when we’ll settle somewhere we’ll have loads of cats, dogs and more, I love animals! Happy Birthday Porter! π
Thanks Franca – It was a bit lonely when we did our RTW backpacking without having any fur babies, part of why we decided to DRIVE the PanAm highway, so we can take them along. Until you have your own again, at least you are sure to find plenty on the road to love as temporary travel pets π
